    Voices for Children flagship workshop will be held on Friday, September 28, 2012 at the Norris Conference Center in San Antonio, TX. Registration will be available at the end of May.   • May 19: Preventing Child Abuse One Child at a Time

    Prevent Child Abuse Texas | In Cooperation With Seton Home and Education Service Center, Region 20 | Child care and school workers are usually the first non-family member to see children outside the home on a regular basis. This exposes them to children who are potential victims of child abuse and as such must be trained to recognize abuse and what to do if it is suspected.

  • May 22: Alamo Alliance for Nurturing Young Children (AANYC) Meeting

    We will be having our Alamo Association for Nurturing Young Children, infant mental health chapter meeting next Tuesday, May 22, 11:30-1:00 at Boystown; 503 Urban Loop, 78204. We will share some exciting news about a grant Family Service Association just received to hold a community-wide early childhood conference which we will pair up with the Texas Association for Infant Mental Health annual meeting and conference this coming October. Come join us to share your ideas.

  • May 23: Urgent "Call to Action" Press Conference on Child Abuse:

    On behalf of The Children's Shelter (TCS) we would like to extend an invitation to attend the "Call 2 Action" press conference on Wednesday, May 23 at 9:30 am at 2939 West Woodlawn. Senator Carlos Uresti and TCS President/CEO, Annette Rodriguez will discuss the most recent surge in child abuse cases.

  • May 23: Abuse & Neglect Task Force Meeting

    The Abuse & Neglect Child Prevention Task Force will convene on Wednesday, May 23, 11:30am – 1:00pm (brown bag lunch) at 4243 E. Piedras, 78228, Pathways Youth & Family Services, 2nd Floor. Legislation is upon us and a vast majority of discussion will be devoted to the collaborated effort we all must make. Please join us to help convene a central message that will help impact our children in the largest of ways.

  • May 30: Health & Human Services Commision Public Hearing

    Every two years, state agencies are required to develop a strategic plan covering the next five years. In addition, the HHS agencies are required to develop a strategic plan which covers how services across the commission will be provisioned for the upcoming years, the Coordinated Strategic Plan (CSP). One of the statutory requirements for the CSP is to collect public input through a series of hearings around the state, with at least one hearing in a rural area. This planning cycle the hearings are scheduled for May 23, in Brownwood and May 30 in San Antonio, with a statewide videoconference scheduled for May 31. The hearings will begin at 11 a.m. and conclude at 2:00 p.m as follows:
